NEXT MEETING - Monday, September 13, 2010

Program: "Wool Appliqué"
Kathleen Baden and Karen Poetzinger will present a hand dyed wool program. Kathleen will have a trunk show of her wool appliqué pieces and then Karen will show her hooked rugs. Karen has taught rug hooking for almost 30 years. She is a member of the Piedmont Craftsmen and very well known for her hand dyed wools. She will have several hooked pieces using appliqué patterns. It will be a beautiful program! Karen will also have some of her wools for sale.

To ALL FPQG Members:
At our August meeting, Leanne mentioned the opportunity to exhibit one of your quilts
at the grand opening of the new Yadkin Valley Cultural Arts Center on Sept 18th.
If interested, please fill out this registration form.
Quilts and forms will be picked up at our Sept meeting.
Please email Leanne immediately to let her know the title and approx size of the quilt.
This is to aide in space planning.

  • It is time to renew your annual membership. Please complete the form
        included in the July or August Newsletter.   You can either mail it to our guild
        post box of bring it to the next meeting.   Dues are $20 per year (July to July)
        of $15 for seniors (65 & older). If you are planning to pay with cash, please
        bring the correct change.  

  • Wear your name tag.

  • Bring return Library books.

  • Items for Show & Tell.

  • Donations for Free Table.

    Notes From The Library
    Do you have a quilting book you want to donate? Or is there a book you want to recommend our librarian purchase to add to our collection? If so, contact our librarian, Jenny Lane at jennylane@windstream.net. Search FPQG's library collection from our 2008 catalogue listing by author or title.

    Name Tag Drawing
    The Guild encourages each member to make a quilted name tag based on our "house" logo and to wear it to the meeting each month. This helps others know who you are and learn your name. Before each meeting, everyone wearing a nametag enters their name in a drawing for items donated by the Guild or local retailers.

    Comments: Our 2008 show was so successful at the Convention Center we now have the entire ball room! The 2010 show coincides with the City of New Bern's 300th Anniversary celebration. In addition to many great vendors, a spectacular raffle quilt, over 200 displayed quilts, the popular Guild Boutique, and live demonstrations we will feature a display of historic quilts from the last 300 years. If you would like to enter, please visit our website for details on drop off or shipping. This is a judged show with prizes. Come spend the day at a great quilt show! Parking is free. The Convention Center is located in a wonderful, walkable downtown area close to shops and resturants. Hope to see you there!
