On Saturday, November 11th, Adele Aiken will be teaching a convergence quilt class using the Ricky Tims technique. The entire quilt top can be completed in the allotted class time. It is recommended that you wait until the center of the quilt is done before planning your borders. Since Christmas and Thanksgiving are approaching, you might want to use fabrics that are reflective of the season. However you can use any fabrics that you like. The finished square will be about 26″. Once the center is complete, there are a variety of ways to add a border. You might go to Pinterest and do a search for convergence quilts for ideas on both borders and fabric choices.
– 4 coordinating fat quarters (one light, 2 medium and 1 dark) – usually effective to have one fat quarter with a large print and the others to be small prints, ombres, or batiks. Fat quarters should be cut into 4 squares each 16″x16″.
– Basic quilting supplies – sewing machine, rotary cutter with sharp blade, 24″ ruler, large cutting mat, scissors, pins, thread, spray starch, fabric marking pen or pencil. There will be an iron and ironing board available but you are welcome to bring your own.
If you want to register for the class, send a check made out to Forsyth Piecers & Quilters to Dianne Luce at 1221 Strathmore Circle, Winston-Salem, NC 27104 (Dianne’s email is firstname.lastname@example.org).
