6:30 Social; 7:00 Program – Nap blankets are a significant portion of the charity work our guild does. In support of those efforts, we’re asking everyone to bring nap blanket fabrics to our May meeting. Our Wednesday Quilt Bee members will sort and match these fabrics to create kits that will then be handed out to members at our June potluck meeting. These blankets are easy to make so we’re hoping that giving everyone kits will help each of us complete several blankets this year. Being provided with kits will be especially useful for those of us who don’t have a lot of children’s fabrics in our stash, so please consider donating what you do have and contributing to the success of our guild’s charitable activities.
Two of our guild members have also agreed to do mini Trunk Shows at our meeting – Gloria Bruce and Debbie Stoltz. Gloria Bruce started her quilting journey in the 1980s when she took a quilting class and was immediately hooked. Although she later expanded into longarm quilting, she still has a love of scrappy quilts and has agreed to share her amazing work with us. Debbie Stoltz is an avid quilter whose first quilt was a block of the month pattern that she did completely on her own. Since then she’s taken a number of classes, made a number of increasingly challenging quilts – mostly pieced – and has been an avid supporter of the Quilts of Valor program. I’m personally looking forward to seeing what amazing quilts both Gloria and Debbie have created and hope to see everyone at our May meeting!
