2018 Quilt Show!

Forsyth Piecers & Quilters Guild is moving full steam ahead to our next quilt show to be held at the National Guard Armory in either October or November of 2018! The theme for our show is “Winston Salem Quilts!” Our logo, which was designed by Mike Foley – a very talented and successful graphic artist – incorporates the initials – WS Q 18!

The show will be co-chaired by Adele Aiken and Patti Mansson. In an effort to involve more people and lighten the work load for everyone, we’ve expanded the number of “chairs” needed for the show. We did this by spreading the job descriptions a little more thinly among more people. Last night, at the guild meeting, we passed around a sign up sheet for chair positions and had a great response. Thank you everyone who signed up!!

We do still have a few chairs that are available and a few chairs that need a co-chair. We would love to have you join in as a chair, a co-chair or a helper, contact Adele or Patti with how you can help make our endeavor a huge success. Remember – many hands, make light work! Can’t wait to hear from you!

Ania Reich from FPQG is a Semifinalist for the 2017 AQS QuiltWeek®

Congratulations to Ania Reich for being chosen as a Semifinalist for the 2017 AQS Quilt Show! Ania is a member of our guild and we are all very excited for her!

Click here to get the details of the International Quilt Show in Paducah, Kentucky on April 26 – 29, 2017.

Ania has been chosen to display the quilt, AUTUMN’S MASTER PAINTER, along with 403 others in the annual contest, now in its 33rd year.

Three quilting authorities will judge this elite group in Paducah, awarding first‐, second‐, and third‐place prizes in 16 categories, along with nine overall awards. Winners will be announced at the 33rd AQS Awards Presentation, which takes place at the Carson Four Rivers Center in Paducah at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 25. Cash awards totaling $125,000 will be granted, including $20,000 for the Janome Best of Show; $12,000 for the BERNINA Stationary Machine Workmanship; $12,000 for the AQS Hand Workmanship; $12,000 for the APQS Movable Workmanship; and $5,000 for the Robert Kaufman Best Wall Quilt.

Regardless of how AUTUMN’S MASTER PAINTER places in the final judging, all semi‐finalists’ quilts will be displayed at the show, which is expected to draw more than 30,000 people. AQS Founder and President Meredith Schroeder says, “Extraordinary quilts are being made by today’s quilters, and the contest quilts represent an extensive variety of styles, sizes, and techniques. Each quilt in the show is an intricate, creative work of art to enjoy.” Quilts were entered in this international contest from 44 US states and 14 other countries.
